NFC tags connect places to quests and take players from a visit through a solution and reward. The first five weeks will test tag reading on selected Android devices, save/resume and duplicate-reward prevention. The current web demo uses buttons to demonstrate this flow; the server approval and benefit-management sections below describe later commercial operations.

The prototype will implement NFC entry, reading-position guidance and retries on selected Android devices. Accounts, production servers, anti-cloning validation and iOS will be designed in later stages using prototype findings.
Later operations design: verification sequence
When a tag is scanned, the server checks the site's operating status and quest version. It then creates a short-lived verification request linked to the account or guest user. After receiving on-site evidence and task results, the server decides whether to approve completion.
The server reviews active tags, request validity, prior issuance for the same completion slot, and task results. NFC failure is not replaced by another radio, location, or code-based check-in. Operator review handles held or corrected existing requests and physical reward redemption; it is not an independent bypass for field verification. Clue answers can also be shared and are not treated as sufficient evidence for high-value rewards.
An approved completion cannot trigger another reward for the same account, season, and quest. Expiry and one-time request values reduce replay attacks; they do not eliminate all remote sharing. When fraud is uncertain, rewards are held for review rather than immediately imposing a permanent ban.

Multiple-account participation and device changes are not judged solely by device count. A family may share a device, so an operator reviews patterns such as repeated collection. Correction history is retained so legitimate records can be restored.
NFC Tag Design and Construction
Place-specific design meets a shared structure suited to small-batch production. We will combine off-the-shelf NFC tags with printed panels for each location, reducing custom electronics development and creating a repeatable production method. Five designs cover Gyeonggijeon, Nambu Market, Pungnammun, Jeondong Cathedral and Hyundaiok. The first batch will use one representative design for four or five prototypes. The base design measures 80 × 110 mm. Outdoor printed PET, a matte protective film and sealed edges prepare the panel for outdoor exposure. An off-the-shelf waterproof encapsulated NFC tag and surface-appropriate adhesive sit behind the panel. Metal surfaces will use an on-metal tag or shielding. Final materials and performance specifications will be set for the installation environment.
One design system connects Jeonju’s distinctive places. A hanji-inspired printed texture and restrained matte finish unify illustrations of halls, markets, gates, churches and food. A clean, flat panel format, shared layered construction and short-run digital printing help reduce location-specific production and replacement costs.
Separate place and tag identifiers support installation and replacement records. Place codes follow the format UW-KR-JJ-00001; individual tags add a unit suffix, such as UW-KR-JJ-00001-001. Each unit retains its installation location and replacement history, even when several tags serve one place. Installation locations will be agreed with the facility manager. Tags will be attached to independent signs or permitted fixtures, never directly to cultural heritage. Locations will be accessible and keep walkways clear. On-site information will distinguish cultural context from game instructions, helping visitors understand the place and begin exploring.

Later operational data and prototype testing
Retain only needed account identifiers, place and unit IDs, quest IDs, request times, approval states and reasons, and issuance or correction history. Current position is not tracked. Recommendations use the last NFC-approved place or a manually selected origin. Other players’ live positions and detailed visit times are not disclosed. Retention and deletion rules must be defined before launch.
Tests will cover reading success, retries, connection recovery and duplicate-reward prevention for each device, tag and app version. Separate reports for web functionality, physical tags and the integrated app will show exactly what was tested and in which environment.
Register multiple physical tags per place with individual IDs and distribute them across approved positions. Ask players to leave the reading area before playing, separating the queue from the play space. Arrange signs, support, and alternative missions for local conditions; log inspection date, fault, operator, old and new unit IDs, and replacement reason.
