The full-season design lets each traveler complete a personal map. One player’s completion does not affect another’s progress. Phase 1 prototypes implement the representative quest’s first discovery and reward.
From a place to a city
Play follows this sequence: on-site verification → quest task → completion approval → map update → next destination. Reading a tag starts the process of verifying the visit; the quest is recorded as complete only when its task requirements have also been met.

Map unlocking visually represents a player's discoveries. Roads, entrances, and opening hours needed for navigation remain visible from the start. “Jeonju Season 1 complete” means finishing that season's designated courses, not visiting every location in Jeonju.
Content for the first season
The full-season concept places nine required quests across three courses and adds three optional quests at 10–15 Jeonju places. One optional quest is a hidden follow-up. Phase 1 production is limited to the representative quest, and language versions count as the same quest.
Thematic course progress is separate from walking segments. Players begin where they first tap and complete nearby missions; only short story chains with prerequisite clues enforce an order. There is no requirement to finish in one day and no penalty for resuming later. Purchases and paid admission are not core completion requirements.

Long-distance exploration and expansion
Long-distance expeditions are planned for the second city’s operating stage. We propose a 200-point bonus for the first completion of its designated course, separate from Jeonju’s season ranking. The award conditions will be finalized before that expedition opens.
For future expeditions, we propose a distance record based on straight-line distances between verified locations. Rewards recognize experiencing the destination’s course rather than travel speed. The presentation of this distance measure will be finalized with the expedition feature.
Season endings and exceptions
At the end of a season, rankings are archived and the next season starts with new scores. Existing titles, city badges, and completion histories remain. New missions earn new records, while translations of the same mission and device changes do not count as additional completions.
If a required site is unavailable because of closure, business cessation, or tag failure, the operator provides an alternative place or equivalent quest. Existing completions remain valid. The replacement shares the original mission's points slot to prevent double rewards. Reasons and effective times for changes are recorded.
Korean and English missions connect to the same completion requirements and reward set. Players can change language or explanation depth without losing existing records. Rewards remain pending while on-site verification is pending, and the user receives a reason and instructions for resolving it.
What the field test will examine
The pilot checks whether observation, deduction, and choice are understandable, whether solving a case creates curiosity about the next one, and whether short segments support both achievement and rest. Site connections are revised if thematic completion causes long detours. Movement-speed competition is not introduced.
Place identity is retained through Gyeonggijeon’s hall, Pungnammun’s gate, Jeondong Cathedral’s red-brick form, and Nambu Market’s roofs. Pale outlines mark unvisited places; NFC-approved visits add color; completed missions add flowers, flags, and decoration; hidden assignments add a special seal; completed courses connect the scenery. The collectible map is separate from navigation.
Future season rankings will show neighboring leaderboard entries so players can compare achievements. Equal scores share a rank; repeated scans and travel speed earn no points. Public information is limited to rankings and achievements. The web leaderboard uses example data. Friend comparisons and skill challenges on identical minigames are later extensions.
Your city and fair records
Unvisited places use silhouettes, NFC visits add color, and solutions add seals and decoration. Hidden seals and completed district scenes arrive in later seasons. Visits alone earn no solving points, and repeats or language changes do not multiply rewards. Hints, breaks and resuming carry no penalty; speed, consecutive attendance, purchases and paid entry are not required.
